Some 17 years ago Gesien Lauxtermann moved with her family from Amsterdam to Ankeveen.
They bought a country house on a strip of land, which is so characteristic for the peat districts in the middle of Holland.
Then there was only a small garden in front of the house and a vast meadow as a backyard.
She transformed the garden in the front to a cottage garden and the backyard into a mixture of formal-, landscape-, potted gardens, a boxwood terrace, some pounds, a greenhouse, an orchard and a nuttery.
Still there is a meadow with horses at pasture through the year.
The garden is famous through the world now and has been published in a lot of garden magazines.
The garden is situated near Amsterdam and its airport Schiphol.
It is possible to visit the garden on the open days or by making an individual or group appointment;
